Photos to process & Pottery to fire, Which comes first?

We came back from a very enjoyable mini vacation I love being near the ocean! Shot almost 6GB of photos so, now I have to go through them an edit them. There is also a lot of pottery to work on and wouldn't you know it my computer consulting has gotten a bit busier as well. So, not enough hours in the day to get everything done.

We also have a Festival here called "Fiesta Days" and I was asked to donate some of my work to the raffle. I put together a lively gift basket with an 8" x 10" matted print of the night time rides long exposure so you can see the motion of the ride by the streaked lights one of my favorite styles of photography. Along with some pottery and glass work and a hat and scarf. It is all to benefit the Southwest Hospital district here which is a very worthy cause.

So tonight I toss a coin to see if I will work on pottery or photography.....

Which medium to work in today?

OK, so here it is the middle of summer and the temperatures have soared. I have been working in clay lately, which thrills my family! I fire my kiln and the garage reaches over 100 degrees! Perfect for a hot summer day don't you think. I have been throwing bowls on the wheel and making handmade buttons. These buttons are more time consuming then I had thought they would be. I am developing some original press molds and designs. There are a number of these buttons for sale on my Etsy account and locally in Pine Mountain Club at Village Yarn and at The Spot of Bead in Frazier Park, also at Arts for Earth Gallery. Here is a platter of buttons to give you and example of what I have been making.
We are going to be taking a little trip to the coast so, I think I will put the pottery on hold for a little bit and pick up my camera. So, here I jump from one medium to another. Look at some of my photo work if you like at http://abbegore.smugmug.com/ .

A blank page or opportunity?

Is this a blank page or opportunity? Well, it's not blank anymore. So, it might as well be an opportunity! Now where to begin? Marketing ideas, product ideas, a direction of a series to create? How about an audience for my art? Research possible galleries, venues for my work, where to begin? This is all so overwhelming to me, my first response is I need an agent. Someone who knows how to do this foot work. Maybe that is where I should begin. I have a large multi-media piece that includes original photography and fabric arts and glass I need to find a venue for. It is 4 ft. by 6ft. and is mounted on a masonite frame. Any ideas are welcome...

The ADD Artist

O.K. So here I am trying to start my first Blog.... My latest adventure in creativity. A lot of times I refer to myself as the ADD Artist because I jump from one thing to another. I am sure many people can relate to this. Some joke about adult ADD but I think I really have it. I am notorious for making lists of things to do and I get a great feeling of accomplishment when I can cross something off my list.

My desk is a mess and I have different piles of papers and projects surrounding me. So, how does one prioritise? I wish I knew... I guess the things that have to be done such as paying the bills comes first. Commitment to the family is up there on the list too. But when it comes to my creative projects and what to tackle first I seem to go in phases. I work in many different mediums and sometimes the time of year plays a roll in what I am working in. Right now I am working with my pottery as it is summer and my pottery studio is in the garage. Here is a web page I have which shows the many different mediums I work in. These include Photography, Fused Glass and Ceramic Pottery. I also dabble in Fabric Arts.

Here is one of the pieces I have up for sale on Etsy:
